number of health camps, vaccination camps and
awareness camps in rural areas with the cooperation
of its branches, local organizations, Krishi Vignyana
Kendra and the department of Animal Husbandry

Humane Education Sub Committee under the Chairmanship
of Dr.K.Bhagavan campaigned vigorously to bring
awareness among school children and the general
public about animal welfare. A number of awareness
programmes were conducted at schools.

Animal Shelter, KARUNA
Terms of Reference: The Committee has to visit
the various kennels maintained by the Police Department
and Elephant cants maintained by Forest Department
and individuals and other places where the animals
are used for work/ performance and to suggest
suitable welfare measures for the upkeep of animals.
The committee members visited
kennels maintained by police department in Bangalore
and suggested measures to be taken up for better
shelter facilities and feeding of the animals.

Veterinary officers conduct Animal Birth Control
Operations, Vaccination, Treatment of injured
/ accident animals at KARUNA Shelter and attend
Animal Health Camps, Vaccination Camps and awareness
programmes of the Association.
11 Veterinary attendants at KARUNA Animal Shelter
assist the doctors in treating, feeding and taking
care of animals. Drivers and Attendants have been
supplied with uniforms.

Members conduct periodical checks to ensure proper
upkeep of animals and effective functioning of
the shelter.

KARUNA in association
with Bangalore Mahanagara Palike continued the Animal
Birth Control Programme in Package No. 1 and 2 of
